2020.10.18 11:30 Arslan3010 "THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE; A FACT OR A MYSTERY"

The Bermuda Triangle (also known as the Devil's Triangle) is an area bounded by points in Bermuda, Florida and Puerto Rico where ships and planes are said to mysteriously vanish into thin air — or deep water.
The term "Bermuda Triangle" was coined in 1964 by writer Vincent Gaddis in the men's pulp magazine Argosy. A number of researchers are said to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Therefore, considering Bermuda triangle a dangerous place for one to enter would not be wrong. The mystery has since been promoted in thousands of books, magazines, television shows, and websites.
In February 1964, Vincent Gaddis wrote an article called "The Deadly Bermuda Triangle" in the pulp magazine. Argosy saying Flight 19 and other disappearances were part of a pattern of strange events in the region. The next year, Gaddis expanded this article into a book, Invisible Horizons.
Other writers elaborated on Gaddis' ideas: John Wallace Spencer (Limbo of the Lost, 1969, repr. 1973); Charles Berlitz (The Bermuda triangle, 1974); Richard Winer (The Devil's Triangle, 1974), and many others, all keeping to some of the same supernatural elements outlined by Eckert.[The vicinity of the Bermuda Triangle is amongst the most heavily traveled shipping lanes in the world, with ships frequently crossing through it for ports in the Americas, Europe and the Caribbean islands. Cruise ships and pleasure craft regularly sail through the region, and commercial and private aircraft routinely fly over it.
Popular culture has attributed various disappearances to the paranormal or activity by extraterrestrial beings. Documented evidence indicates that a significant percentage of the incidents were spurious, inaccurately reported, or embellished by later authors.Triangle writers have used a number of supernatural concepts to explain the events. One explanation pins the blame on leftover technology from the mythical lost continent of Atlantis. Sometimes connected to the Atlantis story is the submerged rock formation known as the Bimini Road off the island of Bimini in the Bahamas, which is in the Triangle by some definitions. Followers of the purported psychic Edgar Cayce take his prediction that evidence of Atlantis would be found in 1968, as referring to the discovery of the Bimini Road. Believers describe the formation as a road, wall, or other structure, but the Bimini Road is of natural origin.
Over the years, many theories have been offered to explain the mystery. Some writers have expanded upon Berlitz's ideas about Atlantis, suggesting that the mythical city may lie at the bottom of the sea and be using its reputed "crystal energies" to sink ships and planes. Other more fanciful suggestions include time portals (why a rift in the space-time fabric of the universe would open up in this particular patch of well-traveled ocean is never explained) and extraterrestrials — including rumors of underwater alien bases.
Still others believe that the explanation lies in some sort of extremely rare and little–known — yet perfectly natural — geological or hydro logical explanation. For example, perhaps ships and planes are destroyed by pockets of flammable methane gas known to exist in large quantities under the sea — maybe lightning or an electrical spark ignited a huge bubble of methane that came to the surface right next to a ship or plane, causing them to sink without a trace. There are a few obvious logical problems with this theory, including that methane exists naturally around the world and such an incident has never been known to happen. Natural explanations

Compass variations

Compass problems are one of the cited phrases in many Triangle incidents. While some have theorized that unusual local magnetic anomalies may exist in the area, such anomalies have not been found. Compasses have natural magnetic variations in relation to the magnetic poles, a fact which navigators have known for centuries. Magnetic (compass) north and geographic (true) north are exactly the same only for a small number of places – for example, as of 2000, in the United States, only those places on a line running from Wisconsin to the Gulf of Mexico. But the public may not be as informed, and think there is something mysterious about a compass "changing" across an area as large as the Triangle, which it naturally will.

Gulf Stream

The Gulf Stream is a major surface current, primarily driven by thermohaline circulation that originates in the Gulf of Mexico and then flows through the Straits of Florida into the North Atlantic. In essence, it is a river within an ocean, and, like a river, it can and does carry floating objects. It has a maximum surface velocity of about 2 m/s (6.6 ft/s). A small plane making a water landing or a boat having engine trouble can be carried away from its reported position by the current.

Human error

One of the most cited explanations in official inquiries as to the loss of any aircraft or vessel is human error. Human stubbornness may have caused businessman Harvey Conover to lose his sailing yacht, Revonoc, as he sailed into the teeth of a storm south of Florida on January 1, 1958.

Violent weather

Hurricanes are powerful storms that form in tropical waters and have historically cost thousands of lives and caused billions of dollars in damage. The sinking of Francisco de Aguadilla's Spanish fleet in 1502 was the first recorded instance of a destructive hurricane. These storms have in the past caused a number of incidents related to the Triangle.
A powerful downdraft of cold air was suspected to be a cause in the sinking of Pride of Baltimore on May 14, 1986. The crew of the sunken vessel noted the wind suddenly shifted and increased velocity from 32 km/h (20 mph) to 97–145 km/h (60–90 mph). A National Hurricane Center satellite specialist, James Lushine, stated "during very unstable weather conditions the downburst of cold air from aloft can hit the surface like a bomb, exploding outward like a giant squall line of wind and water." A similar event occurred to Concordia in 2010, off the coast of Brazil. Scientists are currently investigating whether "hexagonal" clouds may be the source of these up-to-170 mph (270 km/h) "air bombs".

Methane hydrates

📷
Worldwide distribution of confirmed or inferred offshore gas hydrate-bearing sediments, 1996.
Source: United States Geological Survey
An explanation for some of the disappearances has focused on the presence of large fields of methane hydrates (a form of natural gas) on the continental shelves. Laboratory experiments carried out in Australia have proven that bubbles can, indeed, sink a scale model ship by decreasing the density of the water; any wreckage consequently rising to the surface would be rapidly dispersed by the Gulf Stream. It has been hypothesized that periodic methane eruptions (sometimes called "mud volcanoes") may produce regions of frothy water that are no longer capable of providing adequate buoyancy for ships. If this were the case, such an area forming around a ship could cause it to sink very rapidly and without warning.
But before we accept any of these explanations, a good skeptic or scientist should ask a more basic question: Is there really any mystery to explain? In some cases there's no record of the ships and planes claimed to have been lost in the aquatic triangular graveyard; they never existed outside of a writer's imagination. In other cases, the ships and planes were real enough — but Berlitz and others neglected to mention that they "mysteriously disappeared" during bad storms. Other times the vessels sank far outside the Bermuda Triangle. The Bermuda Triangle has fascinated many who lean toward believing imaginative stories and bizarre explanations, but skeptics take a whole other view of the area.
The mystery of this place can be either supernatural or science. This region is notorious for its mysterious phenomena. All these mythical vanishings happened under unknown and unexplained circumstances. Scientists from all over the globe are trying to figure out what are the reasons for such anomalies. The Bermuda triangle thus remains one of the mysterious places on earth.

2020.10.14 23:36 Bobby-Vinson Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. (Matthew 19:8)

In Wisconsin (the only state to release government data on the link between divorce and crime), children of divorced parents are 12 times more likely to serve time in jail than are children from intact, two-parent families.
Thus Dante’s motto over Inferno applies with equal force to marriage: “Ye who enter here leave all hope behind.”
That marriage is a failure none but the very stupid will deny. One has but to glance over the statistics of divorce to realize how bitter a failure marriage really is. Nor will the stereotyped Philistine argument that the laxity of divorce laws and the growing looseness of woman account for the fact that: first, every twelfth marriage ends in divorce; second, that since 1870 divorces have increased from 28 to 73 for every hundred thousand population; third, that adultery, since 1867, as ground for divorce, has increased 270.8 per cent.; fourth, that desertion increased 369.8 per cent.
However, about 40 to 50 percent of married couples in the United States divorce. The divorce rate for subsequent marriages is even higher.

2020.10.14 02:08 pfeifer1982HC Cynata Therapeutic’s Cymerus™ iPSC-MSC Manufacturing Platform

Cynata Therapeutic’s Cymerus™ iPSC-MSC Manufacturing Platform
What is Cymerus?
Unlike current conventional MSC manufacturing processes applied by other companies in this sector, Cynata Therapeutics (Cynata) took a different approach:
  1. evaluating possible shortcomings / bottlenecks of existing processes on their way to at-scale manufacturing down the track (past Phase 3 clinical trials),
  2. looking for an alternative,
  3. creating a platform,
  4. testing it01107-X/fulltext),
  5. validating its at-scale manufacturing capability,
  6. then taking your product/s to the clinic.
Cynata's Cymerus™ manufacturing platform utilises induced pluripotent stem cells (adult cells reprogrammed to an embryonic stem cell-like state, maintaining the essential properties of embryonic stem cells, but without the ethical and legal concerns surrounding them).
These induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are turned into a (mesoderm-derived) precursor cell known as mesenchymoangioblast (MCA), before generating the final Cymerus™ iPSC-MSCs.
Source: Cynata Investor Presentation 14 August 2020
The manufacturing process consists of three stages:
  1. iPSC banking,
  2. iPSC expansion and differentiation to MSCs to freeze and intermediate bank and
  3. MSC expansion and formulation of final clinical product.
The above outlined cutting-edge technology eventually resulted in the world's first clinical trial of an allogeneic iPSC-derived MSC product, evaluating the safety and efficacy of Cynata's lead product CYP-001 for the treatment of 15 patients with steroid-resistent acute graft-versus-host disease (SR-aGvHD) with very encouraging results:
"The Phase 1 clinical trial enrolled 15 patients with steroid-resistant acute GvHD. The primary evaluation at Day 100 revealed highly promising safety and efficacy results, as announced on 18 December 2018. By Day 100, the Complete Response and Overall Response rates were 53% and 87% respectively, and overall survival was at least 87%.
Participants who completed the Primary Evaluation Period then continued to a follow-up period for up to two years after the initial dose, which has now been completed.
The overall survival rate after two years was 60% (9/15 patients), which compares favourably with previously published outcomes. An overall survival rate of just 17% after two years has been reported in patients with steroid-resistant acute GvHD who received standard of care treatment.1 Furthermore, a recently published review article summarised numerous studies with bone marrow and adipose tissue derived MSCs in patients with steroid-resistant acute GvHD. Six of the studies reviewed reported two year survival in MSC-treated patients, which ranged from 16.6% to 40%.2 Similarly, in another recently published Phase 3 trial of an investigational drug (ruxolitinib) in patients with steroid-resistant acute GvHD, overall survival after 12 months was 38%, while there were insufficient surviving patients remaining on study to calculate the survival rate at later timepoints.3 The results of Cynata’s trial illustrate the significant potential of CYP-001 as a new treatment option for GvHD."
In order to further validate its Cymerus-MSCs by showing that the cells have similar or superior functionality to native, donor-derived MSCs, Cynata is building a large catalogue of pre-clinical data covering numerous diseases:
Source: Cynata Investor Presentation 14 August 2020

A look under the hood
Based on the existing banking strategy, approximately 9 × 10^4 vials, each containing 1 × 10^6 iPSCs, can be generated from a single iPSC line. At the current processing scale, a single vial of 1 × 10^6 iPSCs is capable of giving rise to 3.2 × 10^10 MSCs on average, while the entire iPSC bank has the capacity to generate 2.9 × 10^15 MSCs, or 29 million clinical doses (each containing 1 × 10^8 MSCs).
Compared to other companies that have stated to be capable of producing enough clinical doses to treat between 500 to 20,000 patients from the starting material from just one donor, Cynata's Cymerus™ platform would allow to overcome a number of important limitations, including:
  • dependence upon donors
  • variability between donors
  • the relative scarcity of MSCs in adult tissue
  • the low proliferative capacity of adult stem cells
  • loss of potency and reduced efficacy associated with extensive MSC culture expansion (in an effort to maximise the number of MSCs from each donation).
Conversely, since iPSCs can proliferate indefinitely, and MCAs themselves can expand into extremely large quantities of MSCs, Cynata expects to be able to manufacture all of the cells that it will ever need from a single Master Cell Bank of iPSCs – derived from a single donor.
More information on the process can be found here.

iPSC = Cancer?
Cynata has also thought of a way to avoid the teratoma formation risk that is associated with (undifferentiated) iPSCs in vivo by incorporating the following steps to the manufacturing process:
  1. after the induction of mesoderm, cells were cultured in a single-cell suspension in semisolid medium, which does not support iPSC survival;
  2. cells were passed through a mesh filtration step, which eliminates small clumps of undifferentiated iPSCs; and
  3. iPSC-derived MSCs were expanded in adherent cell culture conditions, which do not support survival or expansion of undifferentiated iPSCs.
More information can be found here.

Where does the iPSC starting material come from?
The iPSC starting material is currently being provided by FujiFilm Cellular Dynamics (which was used in Cynata's World-First clinical trial of an allogeneic iPSC-derived therapy). The original license agreement was entered into with Cellular Dynamics back in September 2014. Cellular Dynamics International, Inc. (CDI). CDI, the world's largest producer of cellular tools for drug discovery and safety derived from iPSCs, at the time, was the first company outside of Japan that iPS Academia Japan, Inc. has granted licensing to the Kyoto University iPSC patent portfolio arising out of the work of Dr. Shinya Yamanaka, M.D., Ph.D., Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA), Kyoto University and Dr. James A. Thomson, Ph.D.), University of Wisconsin-Madison. Professor James Thomson and his team at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, including Professor Igor Slukvin (one of the founders of Cynata) were one of two independent research groups that first reported the creation of iPSCs from human cells (along with Professor Shinya Yamanaka et al, at Kyoto University, Japan). On 30 March 2015 however, CDI was acquired by FujiFilm for an amount of US$307 million, representing a premium of 108% to CDI’s closing price on 27 March 2015.FujiFilm now also happens to be the licensee of Cynata's lead product CYP-001 in GvHD.Having said that, Cynata's Cymerus™ iPSC-MSC platform could also be utilised using iPSC starting material from other companies, which also makes it a very lucrative approach for companies that already have access to their own iPSC line and/or are looking into genome editing.

It's all about the patents
The iPSC step is covered under the license agreement between iPS Academia and (now) FujiFilm Cellular Dynamic (FCDI).
A license agreement with the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), which is the licensing and patenting atm of the University of Wisconson, Madison, where Professor Igor Slukvin MD, PhD, has developed this technology, granted Cynata world-wide exclusive rights to certain patented (one granted patent and certain patent applications) IP forming part of the Cynata Technology comprised in Appendix B-2 ["Generation of clonal mesenchymal progenitors and mesenchymal stem cell lines under serum-free conditions"] the License Agreement as described in Section 8 in relation to making, using, selling, importing, and offering for sale certain products for certain therapeutic and diagnostic uses [...].
The original Cynata Technology has since been further developed, with parts of the original process being eliminated and replaced by licensed progressive improvements. This commercially viable and improved Cymerus™ manufacturing platform, now capable of generating MSCs with superior performance compared to the original process, is covered by an Estate of patents both worldwide exclusively and non-exclusively licensed to Cynata as well as patents fully owned by Cynata.
For example, while early IP covered production of MCAs from PSCs using OP9 Feeder cells changed to MSCs to MCAs (still using mouse feeder layers), there is now exclusively licenced IP covering production of MSCs from MCAs and MCAs from PSCs under defined conditions in the absence of non-human components (Tenascin-C). One of them being this one here: "Methods and materials for hematoendothelial differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells under defined conditions" (patent family: US14206778 & patent application US20140273211A1), which is as per ASX announcement dated 7 December 2017 owned by WARF and to Cynata.
Cynata filed for a patent (amongst others) citing this one, called "Colony forming medium and use thereof", inventors being Igor Slukvin, Gene Uenishi, Derek Hei and Diana Drier.
This patent Estate is best described by saying that the core technology has been licensed from WARF with own patents (not licensed from WARF) around it. Whilst the core patent 7,615,374 has an anticipated expiration of 1 Februart 2028, other patents covering improvements that, unless being utilised won't result in the same final Cymerus-MSC product, have anticipated expiration as far as 24 January 2035.
There is a great example on here covering this very topic in regards to mobile phones used today, stating the following:"This is particularly important when it comes to filing new patent applications, as each new ‘inventive step’ can be patented in its own right, allowing many different aspects of an invention to be protected. Securing multiple patents can also mean that even if an earlier patent expires, the latest developments added to the product will continue to be safeguarded from being plagiarised."
Regarding a very vague, therefore in my opinion a last resort desperate attempt to start a "composition of matter" argument, I would strongly recommend to check out the following links:
Although investors of other stem cell companies regulalry refer to possible patent infringements due to their belief that one company can actually "own" MSCs full stop and although there is no guarantee, I am very confident that all the parties listed above have done their due dilligence over the years to have this patent Estate secured.

Licensing - isn't that expensive?
If the Company exercises its rights to sub-license certain rights under the License Agreement, it must pay US$10,000 to WARF and also 30% of any fees received by Cynata from such sub-licensees in addition to certain annual and milestone fees, certain royalty and non-royalty payments as well as pay WARF certain reimbursement of patent fees and costs.
Whilst this might sound a bit "juicy", you may want to consider the alternative to Cynata's conservative approach of paying fees (US$10,000 per sub-license, 30% on milestone payments plus single digit royalties on net sales) on money it has actually received and is sitting in its bank account:Outright purchase of a / part/s of a platform or development of a new platform from scratch, requiring ongoing Capital Raises resulting in dilution of existing investors and / or loan/s (perhaps with - uncertain - future income to be used to service these loans and / or additional shares to be issued to repay the capital and therefore also resulting in further dilution of existing investors).
The above alternative/s could be compared with negative gearing, hoping that the income generated from this platform will eventually outweigh the ongoing expenses including interest and (lower) royalty payments (as there is generally at least one patented component required for the manufacturing process that needs to be in-licensed) and in this instance, will also allow for the loan/s to be repaid down the track with whatever is left.
My personal view on investing aligns with the conservative approach taken by the company. Having said that, Cynata is still considered to be a speculative, high-risk investment, especially in the absence of an (ongoing) income stream sufficient to cover ongoing expenses.

2020.10.14 00:32 jme365 Amy Coney Barrett's dissent in the Kantor appeals court decision

http://media.ca7.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/rssExec.pl?Submit=Display&Path=Y2019/D03-15/C:18-1478:J:Flaum:aut:T:fnOp:N:2309276:S:0

No. 18-1478 27 BARRETT, Circuit Judge, dissenting. History is consistent with common sense: it demonstrates that legislatures have the power to prohibit dangerous people from possessing guns. But that power extends only to people who are dangerous. Founding-era legislatures did not strip felons of the right to bear arms simply because of their status as felons. Nor have the parties introduced any evidence that founding-era legislatures imposed virtue-based restrictions on the right; such restrictions applied to civic rights like voting and jury service, not to individual rights like the right to possess a gun. In 1791—and for well more than a century afterward— legislatures disqualified categories of people from the right to bear arms only when they judged that doing so was necessary to protect the public safety. 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1) and Wisconsin Statute § 941.29(1m) would stand on solid footing if their categorical bans were tailored to serve the governments’ undeniably compelling interest in protecting the public from gun violence. But their dispossession of all felons—both violent and nonviolent—is unconstitutional as applied to Kanter, who was convicted of mail fraud for falsely representing that his company’s therapeutic shoe inserts were Medicare-approved and billing Medicare accordingly. Neither Wisconsin nor the United States has introduced data sufficient to show that disarming all nonviolent felons substantially advances its interest in keeping the public safe. Nor have they otherwise demonstrated that Kanter himself shows a proclivity for violence. Absent evidence that he either belongs to a dangerous category or bears individual markers of risk, 28 No. 18-1478 permanently disqualifying Kanter from possessing a gun violates the Second Amendment.1 I. At the outset, it is worth clarifying a conceptual point. There are competing ways of approaching the constitutionality of gun dispossession laws. Some maintain that there are certain groups of people—for example, violent felons—who fall entirely outside the Second Amendment’s scope. See, e.g., Binderup v. Attorney Gen. U.S., 836 F.3d 336, 357 (3d Cir. 2016) (en banc) (Hardiman, J., concurring in part and concurring in the judgments) (“[T]he Founders understood that not everyone possessed Second Amendment rights. These appeals require us to decide who count among ‘the people’ entitled to keep and bear arms.”). Others maintain that all people have the right to keep and bear arms but that history and tradition support Congress’s power to strip certain groups of that right. See Eugene Volokh, Implementing the Right to Keep and Bear Arms for Self-Defense: An Analytical Framework and a Research Agenda, 56 UCLA L. REV. 1443, 1497– 98 (2009) (describing these competing views). These approaches will typically yield the same result; one uses history and tradition to identify the scope of the right, and the other uses that same body of evidence to identify the scope of the legislature’s power to take it away. 1 Because the federal and state statutes operate to the same effect as applied to Kanter, my analysis applies equally to both. For simplicity’s sake, I often refer only to the federal statute. In addition, I sometimes refer to the statutes as imposing a “felon ban” or “felon dispossession” with the understanding that § 922(g)(1) also encompasses state misdemeanors punishable by more than two years in prison. See 18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(20)(B). No. 18-1478 29 In my view, the latter is the better way to approach the problem. It is one thing to say that certain weapons or activities fall outside the scope of the right. See District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570, 627 (2008) (explaining that “the sorts of weapons protected were those ‘in common use at the time’” (citation omitted));

ALL BALLOTS DROPPED OFF NEED TO BE DROPPED OFF BY 5:00 ON THE DAY BEFORE ELECTION DAY (Monday, November 2).
Hey people of New Hampshire!
Absentee ballots are starting to go out, so here's what you need to know:

VOTER REGISTRATION

If you are not registered to vote, plan to register to vote today. NEW HAMPSHIRE HAS NO ONLINE VOTER REGISTRATION, so there are (3) main methods of voter registration:
(1) register in-person at your Town Clerk's office.
(2) call your town clerk and ask them to mail you one (IT IS, AT THIS POINT OF TIME, IT IS BEST TO REGISTER IN-PERSON)
(3) Register to vote at the polls on Election Day (**NEW HAMPSHIRE HAS SAME-DAY VOTER REGISTRATION)
NOTE: In-person registration prior to Election Day need to be done at a time before the Supervisor of the Checklist Meeting occurs in your city or town; this can be any time between 6-13 days before the election (between Wednesday, October 21 and Wednesday, October 28). The specific date for this meeting varies by city & town, so check with your local municipality to see when that meeting will take place.
YOU CANNOT PRINT A VOTER REGISTRATION FORM ONLINE AND SEND IT IN TO YOUR CITY/TOWN CLERK; YOU WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT YOUR CLERK AND THEN HAVE A REGISTRATION FORM MAILED TO YOU.
https://sos.nh.gov/elections/voters/register-to-vote/
https://sos.nh.gov/elections/voters/register-to-vote/registering-to-vote-in-new-hampshire/
https://www.vote.org/state/new-hampshire/
NEW HAMPSHIRE HAS NO EARLY VOTING, so you can either vote absentee-by-mail, or in-person on Election Day.

VOTING ABSENTEE-BY-MAIL:

If you are want to vote absentee by mail, request a ballot now. You can drop off this form to your City or Town Clerk's office
https://sos.nh.gov/elections/voters/absentee-ballots/request-an-absentee-ballot/
If you have requested and received and you have requested and received your ballot, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILL IN YOUR BALLOT, then fill in your ballot, and then MAKE SURE TO SIGN YOUR NAME IN THE CORRECT PLACE. Forgetting to sign your name is a common, yet easily avoidable, reason for ballot rejection.
Once you are done, DO NOT MAIL BACK YOUR BALLOT.
New Hampshire, by design, makes it very easy for you to drop-off your ballot, because, like all other states in New England (as well as Michigan and Wisconsin),
Unlike all the states as mentioned above, NEW HAMPSHIRE DOES NOT HAVE DROP-BOXES.
IF YOUR CITY OR TOWN HAS A DROP-BOX OR A MAIL SLOT, THAT IT IS NOT INTENDED TO BE USED FOR BALLOTS (IT WOULD BE USED FOR OTHER PURPOSES). UNDER NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE LAW, YOU CANNOT DROP OFF YOUR BALLOT IN THAT DROP-BOX OR MAIL SLOT.
https://www.concordmonitor.com/ballot-dropoff-voting-absentee-new-hampshire-election-35719391
Instead, you would need to hand-deliver your ballot to your City or Town Clerk's office during business hours. A directory to ALL City or Town Clerk's Offices can be found at the top of the page. You would need to hand-deliver your ballot to the Clerk's Office by 5:00pm on the day before the Election (Monday, November 2). As an alternative, you could also drop your ballot off at your local polling precinct by 5:00pm on Election Day.
It is recommended that show a valid form of photo ID, when delivering your ballot to the Clerk's Office. If the voter proves identity, the larger envelope and the Clerk’s list of absentee voters will be marked “voter verified.”
If the voter’s absentee ballot is challenged on election day, the Moderator may consider this evidence that the voter’s identity was verified by the clerk when ruling on the challenge. This is not a requirement, but you should do it if you have proper ID.
You can find a list of valid Photo ID here (Again, to make it clear, while showing ID when dropping off your ballot is voluntary, if you have one of these forms of ID when dropping off your ballot, you may as well show it):
https://sos.nh.gov/elections/information/election-laws/voter-identification-law/
If you cannot drop off yourself, you can designate somebody else as a delivery agent to have them drop your ballot off for you.
IF YOU DESIGNATE SOMEBODY TO DROP IT OFF FOR YOU, they may either deliver your ballot to the Clerk's Office by 5:00pm on the day before the Election (Monday, November 2) OR they could ALSO drop it off at the voters local polling precinct (NOT any polling precinct, but the voter's specific polling precinct) by 5:00pm on Election Day.
To be clear, YOU CANNOT DROP OFF A BALLOT YOURSELF ON ELECTION DAY; ONLY IF YOU HAVE SOMEBODY ELSE DROP IT OFF FOR YOU, ON YOUR BEHALF, CAN A BALLOT BE DROPPED OFF ON ELECTION DAY.
FAMILY MEMBERS (limited to a spouse, parent, sibling, child, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, stepparent, or a stepchild) can be designated as a delivery agent, as can nursing home and elder care facility administrators, and a person assisting a voter with a disability who signs the disabled voter's absentee ballot affidavit.
Delivery agents can drop off ballots for NO MORE THAN 4 VOTERS, INCLUDING themselves.
http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/rsa/html/LXIII/657/657-17.htm

2020.09.30 07:42 Lamont-Cranston The Koch/Republican network

I do not believe what is going in America has to do with Russian interference, I believe it can be much more clearly explained and understood as powerful domestic interests asserting their control.
The Koch/Republican network is taking - over - state - legislatures across the country: closing voting stations in minority areas, purging voters, engaging in extreme gerrymandering of districts and efforts to oppose this through popular ballots are restricted, disenfranchising voters, engaging in "vote caging", preventing students from voting, enacting nebulous signature mismatch rules, as well as onerous1 2 Voter ID laws1 written by ALEC, a group that also hosts gerrymandering tutorials, changing the rules of governance to make their control permanent and legal, and at a Council for National Policy seminar the need to bring back 'poll watcher' intimidation tactics has been discussed.
Should they manage to lose elections in spite of all these efforts they vow to redouble them using lame duck sessions before the changeover to impede the new government, strip Governors of power, and reassign legislative authority; some become angry and paranoid and start advocating violence, others brazenly admit what they are doing. A Heritage Foundation fellow addressing the Council for National Policy candidly admits that Republican Party results would be hampered by Voting Rights protections and non-partisan districting. In states they no longer have a majority they simply resort to wrecking the legislative process.
On the other hand in North Carolina despite having gerrymandered the legislature and congressional districts they have bizarrely insisted on engaging in unnecessary electoral fraud.
All of this is being carried out by state legislatures, Secretaries of State, Attorneys General, and Governors1 the Kochs have contributed to and directed their network of fake grassroots fronts like Americans for Prosperity to campaign for them in elections and many are members of ALEC. Some even come directly from the Koch network. Once they have achieved office and solidified their power with this campaign they begin a new second campaign of serving their powerful backers introducing legislation written by ALEC - ALEC is a policy institute/'model legislation' generating body staffed with industry lobbyists and elected representatives, it was founded in the 1970s by Paul Weyrich, also the co-founder of The Heritage Foundation and the Council for National Policy and who famously declared at a meeting of Republican Party representatives that he did not want everyone to vote and that in order for the party to win elections they need fewer people to vote, today it is heavily funded by the Kochs and Koch Industries is on its corporate advisory board, and it coordinates with their fronts through the State Policy Network and Americans for Prosperity campaigns for its members - that personally benefit Koch Industries like limiting liability claims on its subsidiaries and freezing renewable energy and efficiency standards, labor and industrial and environmental deregulation, tax cuts for the rich which coupled with supermajority laws is the cause of the drop in rural healthcare and education funding, which is then used to rationalize the privatisation of education through charter schools and push resegregation, stack the judiciary, oppose and even criminalize Dark Money disclosure, criminalize oil pipeline protests, and gerrymander Congress so their preferred candidates get in.
A byproduct of this process is religious fundamentalists and extreme far right elements gain positions in state legislatures through serving elite corporate interests and use the enormous legislative power now amassed to carry out their own agenda.
You fight this in the court and either they've stacked them or the judges rule in your favor and they just try again and replace the judges for the next round. If it goes to the federal courts either they rule in their favor or its litigated for so long the courts declare its too late to change. Meaning that in North Carolina a 50.3% electoral result grants them 10 of the 13 Congressional seats, and in Wisconsin they gain 63% of the state legislature on 46% of the vote. So of course they now try to delay changing for the 2020 election. In Georgia a judicial election was simply cancelled and the new judge appointed by the governor. All of this is being carried out under the accusation that other people are committing voter fraud, which courts have dismissed as conjecture.
Now they're doing the same thing nationally. Trumps Vice President1, Secretary of State1, and administration positions are staffed with Koch cronies. More are being appointed to the Federal Reserve, regulatory and oversight positions at the Department of Energy, Department of the Interior where they shut down reports by declaring "science is a Democrat thing" and at the EPA where they usher in corporate friendly deregulation benefiting their former employers and endangering lives, the FCC, and NOAA. And supporting his Supreme Court nominations123.
Key components of the Trump administrations policies come straight out of the Koch agenda. Trumps original tax plan while it did include numerous taxcuts for the rich also included a Border Adjustment Tax that would have rendered them revenue neutral so as not to add to the deficit and encourage domestic manufacturing. You have to give the devil his due. After lobbying from the Koch network this was removed and the Paul Ryan plan was pure taxcuts for the rich, increasing the deficit by a trillion and personally saved the Kochs a billion dollars. The attacks on Medicaid and food stamps, rollback of auto emission standards, attacks on environmental regulation, and disastrous cutbacks to the CDC all come straight from their playbook. They spent 400 million on the 2018 midterms and across the country they are lobbying for 'right to work' laws and organising campaigns against Public Transit ballots.
The question Trumps Commerce Secretary wished to include into the 2020 Census regarding citizenship status originate from the same Republican strategist that designed the REDMAP gerrymandering initiative and his own research concluded the question would favor rural white citizens over others via intimidating minorities into not participating, ensuring Census data would be skewed allowing for district boundaries to be further gerrymandered as well as Electoral College votes + federal spending to be apportioned incorrectly.
What else do they want, how far does this go? A key influence on the Kochs was the economist James McGill Buchanan who advocated for "locks and bolts" to be instituted in government to limit the publics democratic ability to influence it so that the free market can be free. Like state legislatures requiring a supermajority to raise taxes or to approve cities funding public transportation, and gerrymandering legislatures and disenfranchising voters to gain that majority. The ultimate goal is to hardwire this into the Constitution itself and the Koch network has been active in campaigning for a Constitutional Convention. They have three items on the agenda for it already:
And now amidst the chaos of 2020 President Trumps administration and state Republican law makers are trying to introduce a range of measures to prohibit mail-in voting and other initiatives like trying to restrict providing assistance to others to get to polling stations to restricting ballots from being received after Election Day to restricting early and mail-in ballot counting to only begin on Election Day to simply demanding they not be counted because reasons, attempts are being made to demand the result be called on Election Day, and to cap it all off the USPS has had key mail sorting infrastructure shut down or dismantled which will delay the collection and delivery of mail-in ballots – all adding up to ensure many mail-in votes would go uncounted due to being delayed or a lack of time to process them. Now there are reports that they are trying to get electors appointed to the Electoral College that will disregard the results.
I do not know yet how much of this comes from the Koch network, certainly the attempts to deter mail-in voting have many familiar faces and groups, and how much from the Presidents own pathology. But his rhetoric and efforts are certainly built upon the anti-election and anti-democratic infrastructure they have developed and the baseless voter fraud gaslighting groups like ALEC and the Heritage Foundation generated to justify it all.
In any other country you'd call this a soft coup.
How do you stop this?
You can't vote them out, the gerrymandering and disenfranchisement ensure their minority has a majority of power.
Where is the Democratic Party while this goes on? In 2018 their biggest concern was avoiding scary words and creating the... BoomerCorps. Now in 2020 amidst a variety of disasters their focus has been on calling President Trump fat, saying he has "doggy doo" on his pants, and harping on about alleged Russian interference.
So what the hell do you do?

2020.09.29 15:53 kittehgoesmeow What A Day: Don Of The Debt by Sarah Lazarus & Crooked Media (09/28/20)

"If the president thinks his best case is made in urine he can have at it." - The Biden campaign response to Trump's demands for a pre-debate drug test

Tax Against The Wall

President Trump’s elusive financial records have finally emerged, and, what do you know, they paint a clear picture of someone who absolutely should not be president.
The biggest takeaway is that Trump isn’t just less wealthy than he claims—he is up to his $70,000 haircut in debt, which makes his presidency a serious national-security threat.
Donald Trump ran for president in 2016 to boost his flagging marketability, has used the office to support his failing businesses, and is now prepared to steal an election to avoid accountability for the mountain of debt he can’t afford to pay. Trump was terrified of voters finding out that he is, above all, pathetic. We can work with that.

Look No Further Than The Crooked Media

You’ve all been making calls and texts and working your asses off to win this election, and Crooked wanted to make something fun to commemorate the work you’ve done in this moment. Check out our brand new Vote Save America Action Calendar! It’s like an advent calendar, but for the election, and instead of chocolate, there are stickers. As always, a portion of every order in the Crooked store goes to VoteRiders. Get yours now at https://crooked.com/store

Under The Radar

The Trump administration has spent more than $300 million on an ad blitz to “defeat despair” about the coronavirus ahead of the election. The campaign will reportedly feature administration officials and celebrities (well, Dennis Quaid) discussing the pandemic and the administration’s response. It was organized by former Health and Human Services spokesman Michael Caputo, who’s now on medical leave, and who claimed in a Facebook video that the campaign was “demanded of me by the president of the United States. Personally.” Caputo’s team abruptly commandeered $300 million that Congress had appropriated for the CDC—literally weakening the pandemic response to pay for campaign ads falsely assuring voters that the response is going great. House Democrats have launched an investigation, but haven’t yet been able to halt the contract.

What Else?

President Trump formally nominated Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court on Saturday, and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham has set a timeline to have the committee approve her on October 22. Several Senate Democrats have pledged not to meet with Barrett, and several Republicans have absurdly/falsely/slanderously accused them of hating Catholics.
The first presidential debate will take place in Cleveland, OH, on Tuesday night, sans any fact-checking from moderator Chris Wallace. Joe Biden has been preparing so diligently that journalists are whining that he won’t talk to them, while Trump has been golfing, refusing to practice, and demanding that Biden pee in a cup. Elon Musk’s vote naturally hangs in the balance.
Former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale was hospitalized after his wife called 911 to report that he was armed and threatening suicide. Parscale was in the house with ten guns when police arrived, and his wife told officers that he had hit her days earlier, according to the police report.
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross has announced October 5 as the “target date” for ending the Census count, in spite of a court order to continue counting efforts through the end of October. Keep that law and order comin’!
After the Trump campaign cited nine discarded ballots in Pennsylvania to baselessly accuse Democrats of trying to steal the election, GOP leaders of the Pennsylvania legislature have petitioned the Supreme Court to please overturn a state supreme court ruling requiring that absentee ballots be counted after November 3.
CDC Director Robert Redfield was overheard on a phone call expressing concern about Trump’s favorite coronavirus adviser Scott Atlas: "Everything he says is false.” We would politely implore Dr. Redfield to say it to America’s face.
A major hospital chain was hit with a cyberattack over the weekend, forcing some hospitals to resort to working with pen and paper. It was potentially the largest medical ransomware attack in U.S. history.

Be Smarter

Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign targeted a list of millions of Black voters as part of an extensive effort to deter them from voting, according to a data leak obtained by the British news network Channel 4. A database used by Trump’s digital campaign team separated files on nearly 200 million American voters into eight categories. One category, “Deterrence,” was assigned to 3.5 million Black voters; Black Americans were disproportionately marked “Deterrence” in key swing states, and people of color made up 54 percent of that category overall. Combine that racially targeted deterrence with the fact that the Trump campaign and the RNC have been building a vast election-disputing legal team for the past year, and you’ve got a pretty good picture of how hard Republicans are working to convince Democratic voters that their votes don’t matter. Because, of course, they do.

2020.09.28 21:15 SoCalJer Brad tries to commit suicide, Kushner deletes Twitter history, and Bannon is in jail - What do they have in common?

The power of online persuasion comes from the ability to target your audience, and hit them with tailored propaganda.
Even back in November of 2016, it was agreed that their social media efforts won Trump the election: by running the Trump campaign–notably, its secret data operation–like a Silicon Valley startup, Kushner eventually tipped the states that swung the election.
So how do you pinpoint your audience? You hire Cambridge analytica.
Exclusive Interview: How Jared Kushner Won Trump The White House: "Kushner’s crew was able to tap into the Republican National Committee’s data machine, and it hired targeting partners like Cambridge Analytica to map voter universes and identify which parts of the Trump platform mattered most
Cambridge Analytica was originally bankrolled by the Mercer family with a $15 million start-up investment in 2014. Steven Bannon was installed as vice president and secretary of Cambridge Analytica from June 2014 to August 2016. Bannon left both Breitbart (also bankrolled by the Mercer family) and Cambridge Analytica in August 2016 to serve as the chief executive of the Trump Campaign.
"after Trump locked down the GOP nomination by winning Indiana’s primary, Kushner tapped Parscale, a political novice who built web pages for the Trump family’s business and charities, to begin an ambitious digital operation fashioned around a database they named Project Alamo... When Bannon joined the campaign in August, Project Alamo’s data began shaping even more of Trump’s political and travel strategy"
Remember that Facebook provided over 50 million raw profiles to Cambridge Analytica? And it's worth noting that SCL Group, the parent company of Cambridge Analytica, was known for involvement "in military disinformation campaigns to social media branding and voter targeting"
So now the Trump campaign has Facebook data, and is employing a company know for disinformation campaigns and social media branding ... Next step is to get that information into the hand of an organization with the physical ability to roll out a disinformation campaign... Enter Erik Prince.
Eric Prince and Bannon by Bannon’s admission, had known each other for eight or nine years when the Trump campaign had kicked into gear so it makes sense that Bannon would reach out to Prince, who's Seychelles meeting had been previously described by U.S. officials as "an apparent effort to establish a backchannel line of communication between Moscow and President-elect Donald Trump" and put him in charge of getting that Facebook information it the hands of the Russians.
How do you accomplish this? You get the DeVos family server to connect with a Russian bank server to replicate a database.
Russia has fake TwitteFacebook/Instagram/reddit profiles that have been gathering followers since the inception of social media. In fact, Russia has had a "special disinformation office" since 1923, and Putin was a KGB foreign intelligence officer for 16 years. It would be ignorant to think that Russia isn't attempting to stir the political pot here in the United States. And it would be foolish to think that these campaigns do not affect their targets even in subtle ways. In this last election, all they had to do was sway the opinions of 77,000 people. That's really not much.
Russian started dipping into social media manipulation in 2014, if not before, with the whole "Jade Helm, Obama is going to implement Marshall Law, take your guns, and put you in a Walmarts converted into FEMA camps" thing.
Russia found one very gullible group in that process. And two years later, they nudged that same group towards Trump and away from Hillary.
In fact, after a 2 year investigation, the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee all agreed that "Russia directed a disinformation campaign during the 2016 election to hurt Hillary Clinton and favor Trump".
Donald Trump owes his victory in the Electoral College to three states he won by the smallest number of votes: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. So it's fair to say that the 2016 presidential election was decided by about 77,000 votes out of than 136 million ballots cast. According to the final tallies, Trump won: Pennsylvania by 0.7 percentage points (44,292 votes), Wisconsin by 0.7 points (22,748 votes), Michigan by 0.2 points (10,704 votes). If Clinton had won these 3 counties, she would have won the Electoral College 278 to 260
A survey by Public Policy Polling between May 7 and May 10, 2015, found that 32% of 685 Republican primary voters believed "the government is trying to take over Texas", 40% believed "the government is not trying to take over Texas" and 28% were "unsure"
So if Russia was able to manipulate between 28% to 32% of Republicans voters in 2014, it's not difficult to believe that in 2016 Russia was able to manipulate between .2% and .7% of republican voters in 3 counties, and/or to dissuade an similar percentage of black voters?

2020.09.25 20:08 Venus230 Cheat-by-Mail. Months-Long Recounts. Riots. Endless Court Drama. The Democrats' 7-Step Strategy to Win the Election Using Vote-by-Mail Chaos

1. Never let a Covid crisis go to waste! Use the pandemic to push for a nation-wide vote-by-mail scheme.
By now we’re all familiar with the inequities, even idiocies, of the Covid-19 lockdown rules. In many states and cities, it’s forbidden to have normal assembly for social gatherings, businesses, church services, and even hospital visits.
On the other hand, it’s okay to have massive Black Lives Matter protests, Antifa riots, and anything else the left approves of, at least tacitly. Obviously, such unequal treatment is a formula for societal frustration, rage, and, yes, chaos.
And what a friend the Democrats have in crisis and chaos!
In fact, Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris has said that this sort of chaos is likely to continue—and should continue—through the election. “Everyone beware because they’re not going to stop,” Harris said about the (often violent) protests erupting in American cities. “They’re not going to stop before Election Day in November, and they’re not going to stop after Election Day.”
But according to the Democrats, the only certainty in all of this chaos is that Americans—who are safe to take to the streets in mass protests and riots—are not safe to vote in person on November 3. We must vote by mail, they tell us.
Mail-in voting is “essential from a health reason because we want to keep people at home to vote without having them all collect on Election Day,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said last month. “People should not have to choose between their health and their vote.”
If you’re still scratching your head wondering why it’s safe to riot but not to vote, veteran political consultant Dick Morris explained the Democrats’ game plan: “If they feel they’re legitimately losing the election, [they] are going to use the excuse of the Covid virus—nobody can come out and vote in person, they claim … and they’re going to deliberately game the system by sending out millions and millions of mail-in ballots for people that don’t exist or have already voted.”
“And the states will not verify the [mail-in ballot] signatures because they are under the control of Democrats,” Morris added.
2. Enlist all the messengers at your disposal (Hollywood, Corporate Media, Big Tech, Pro Sports) to push for vote-by-mail.
The Democrats are using every tool in their considerable arsenal to push the vote-by-mail messaging, including multi-million-dollar super PAC ad campaigns. Former Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Amy Klobuchar has teamed up with failed gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams to mandate a national vote-by-mail system, and a group called Stop Republicans has launched a digital blitz to push for the idea.
But the Democrats’ favorite tool is, of course, Hollywood and pop culture.
As early as April, about a month into the coronavirus shutdown, the Hollywood wing of the Democrat-Media Complex kicked into high gear to push vote-by-mail.
Actor Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, who were among the first big name figures to contract Covid-19, teamed up with former First Lady Michelle Obama and former Obama White House senior advisor Valerie Jarrett in April for an ostensibly non-partisan virtual voter registration drive that encouraged states to loosen vote-by-mail requirements.
📷
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson joined former First Lady Michelle Obama for a virtual get out the vote event on April 20, 2020, to encourage people to sign up for mail-in voting. (YouTube)
In August, a group of A-list celebrities hosted a virtual “United to Save the Vote” gala—which they claimed was “fiercely nonpartisan”—to raise money to “protect the 2020 election” by, in part, increasing trust in mail-in voting. The virtual roster included Jennifer Lawrence, Jamie Foxx, Dave Matthews, Ed Helms, Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys, Sia, Jake Johnson, Sarah Silverman, Kenan Thompson, Chelsea Handler, Gloria Estefan, Randall Park, Erich Bergen, Nick Kroll, Sophia Bush, Jonathan Scott, Kenny G., George Lopez, etc. You get the picture.
According to the event’s website, these zealously anti-Trump “fiercely nonpartisan” celebs gathered virtually to counter the efforts of “politicians who are undermining the security and validity of mail-in voting.”
Meanwhile, the Democrat-Media Complex is engaged in a bit of journalistic jujitsu churning out stories about how the Republicans are the ones who plan to steal the election. Here’s a headline from the Washington Post: “Republicans’ long-term vote heist matters more than Trump’s tantrums.” And here’s one from Rolling Stone: “The Plot Against America: The GOP’s Plan to Suppress the Vote and Sabotage the Election.” But it’s hard to top this headline from the Daily Beast: “This Is How Republicans Steal an Election, and Maybe Kill Some Dems in the Process.”
At the same time, the Democrat-Media Complex is also celebrating the new wokeness of pro sports, which is busy helping Democrats win in November. On September 7, Politico asked, “Could LeBron James Defeat Donald Trump?” As has been widely reported, the National Basketball Association has agreed to set up a “social justice coalition” to help get out the (Democrat) vote.
3. Get millions of questionable mail-in ballots into the system.
Here we might pause to note the distinction between the various kinds of voting by mail.
It is true that absentee voting by mail has been with us for many years. Even President Trump has voted by mail, and our active duty military regularly votes by mail. In fact, Republicans have been quite successful in the past with absentee voting. In Florida in 2016, for example, more Republicans voted by mail than Democrats, and Trump carried the state. There is even legitimate concern that any disparagement of mail-in voting could unintentionally hurt Republicans in November because their voters like voting by absentee ballots. Indeed, there are sincere and legitimate reasons for why absentee voting should be available during the pandemic.
However, there is a big difference between allowing absentee ballots as an option for people who are unable to make it to the polls and mandating that an entire election be done by mail-in voting.
And there is a really big difference between the long-standing practice of sending absentee ballots to voters who take the initiative of requesting them and the new Democratic proposal to mail out unsolicited ballots (or applications for ballots) to every registered voter regardless of whether those voters are still alive or eligible to vote in that jurisdiction. And, as we shall explain, this new effort to mail out ballots to every registered voter is coupled with the left’s years-long fight to prevent these same voter rolls from being updated to remove dead and ineligible people from the lists.
And to make matters extra complicated and chaotic, every state has a different standard for mail-in voting. Some states have more safeguards in place than others. For example, some states require that every mail-in ballot include a verifiable signature, additional witness or notary signatures, and even an enclosed copy of the voter’s photo ID. Some states have few, if any, such safeguards. Some states are loosening or experimenting with the rules for the first time due to the coronavirus pandemic.
And then there is the issue of sending all these ballots through the mail. Can the U.S. Postal Service process them all in a timely manner? Every state has a different deadline for when these ballots need to be postmarked. What happens if they don’t arrive in time? Can election officials process them all in a timely manner? Counting mail-in ballots is much more time-consuming. It can involve matching signatures, checking postmarks, flattening out ballots that were crumpled in the mail, etc. If the recent primaries in Wisconsin and New York are anything to go by, mail-in ballots will take weeks to process and that process will be fraught with problems and potential for fraud.
(To give you a flavor of the postal chaos to come, the chief clerk for Brooklyn’s Kings County Board of Elections testified in federal court last month that in 2018, the USPS delivered “several hundred absentee ballots from the previous November” — which was “five months after Election Day.” And in Wisconsin this week, three trays of mail, which included absentee ballots, were found in a ditch.)
📷

There is also the issue of how voters can apply to vote by mail and who is eligible to do so. According to FiveThirtyEight, nine states and the District of Columbia will simply mail every registered citizen a ballot. In another 14 states, authorities will mail everyone an application to vote by mail. (Although, as we shall see, some states take a generous view of who, or what, might be eligible to receive such applications if outside interest groups decide to mail them out.) In 16 states, nothing is automatically mailed to voters, although voters can apply online to vote by mail. In six states, voting by mail is permissible only with a “valid excuse.” And the remaining states are some hybrid of the preceding categories.
All of these different rules provide plenty of opportunity to game the system on questions ranging from the verification of identity, addresses, and signatures to the timeliness of postmarks and the ability of the postal service to deliver ballots in a timely manner. Because there are so many “moving parts” to the vote-by-mail process, mail-in ballots are fraught with the potential for fraud. Yes, we’ve seen voter fraud before, but we ain’t seen nothing yet. The further we get from requiring that voters go to the polls to vote in person, the more we expand the avenues for fraud.
Consider, for example, the fraud potential that comes with mailing ballots to every registered voter. Back in 2012, a Pew Center study found that 1.8 million dead people were still registered to vote and that 24 million voter registrations were un-confirmable.
Though some states have made progress in updating their voting rolls since the 2012 Pew study, a comprehensive analysis conducted this year by the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) found that 349,773 apparently dead people still remain on the voter rolls across 41 states. And apparently the dead still vote! The report also discovered a surprising number of people who apparently voted more than once.
The report found:
During the 2018 General Election, 37,889 likely duplicate registrants are apparently credited for casting two votes from the same address, and 34,000 registrants appear to have voted from non-residential addresses. Additionally, 6,718 registrants were apparently credited for voting after death.
According to the report, New York, Texas, Michigan, Florida, and California were the top five states with dead voters on the rolls, accounting for 51 percent of all the dead registrants. The crucial swing states of Michigan and Florida had 34,225 and 25,162 dead registrants respectively.
That would seem to be a serious indictment of the system and a warning against mailing unsolicited mail-in ballots or even mail-in ballot applications to everyone on the voter rolls. But Democrats are working hard to bulldoze the path for vote-by mail, or, as Breitbart News often calls it, cheat-by-mail. Democratic governors in New York and Pennsylvania have already moved to ease vote-by-mail, as have local officials in Harris County, TX, population 4.7 million. Oh, and did we mention that in Nevada’s June primary, more than 223,000 ballots in Clark County (Las Vegas) went to a bum address? That means almost a fifth of all the ballots mailed out in the county went to a bum address.
📷

But, you might ask, why don’t we just make sure the voter rolls are accurate by removing people who have moved or died? Why don’t we have a standardized signature verification protocol and a requirement for an additional witness signature and photo ID for mail-in ballots to ensure they are legit? Good questions. The answer is the left fights these reforms.
Left-wing groups want to expand access to voting by registering as many people as possible, but they also fight to block meaningful efforts to ensure that only eligible American citizens are voting. When Republicans enact legislation to encourage transparency and accuracy in our voting process by removing dead or ineligible voters from the rolls or mandating some form of identity verification, left-wing activists challenge these initiatives in court to stop any reform.
Eric Eggers, the author of Fraud: How the Left Plans to Steal the Next Election, explained to Breitbart News how left-wing interest groups have fought for years to keep the loopholes that could potentially create a “tsunami of voter fraud” in November.
“Organizations that are funded by George Soros both fight to keep those vulnerabilities in place, as in Ohio, by trying to prevent efforts to pass voter-ID laws or to make the voter rolls more secure,” Eggers said. “But then they also — and this is really the insidious part — they fund organizations that go out and round up voters, regardless of legality of their status, and force them through the vulnerabilities in the system.”
“There are 248 counties in this country that have more registered voters than actual citizens of legal voting age,” Eggers said. “It’s a problem because it creates opportunity for organizations like the formerly known ACORN and La Raza — they’re all funded by [billionaire George] Soros — to go and figure out where the vulnerabilities are and force the voters — whether they’re legal or not — through the gaps.”
But according to the establishment media, the instances of mail-in voter fraud are “infinitesimally small.” And to prove this, the media loves to quote the “non-partisan” Brennan Center for Justice. What the media fails to tell you is that the Soros-funded Brennan Center is leading the charge to expand mail-in voting. They don’t just have a dog in this fight — they have a whole kennel! Quoting the Brennan Center to deny the reality of mail-in voter fraud is like quoting Big Tobacco to deny that smoking causes cancer.
And yet when Donald Trump or any Republican points out the obvious vulnerabilities in our voting system, the Democrat-Media Complex quotes biased sources to vilify Republicans. Nancy Pelosi actually called President Trump and Republicans “enemies of the state” for expressing concerns about vote-by-mail’s fraud potential.
It seems fair to say that Democrats are making sure that the system works for them. Recently, Politico headlined a long piece, “Inside the Democratic Party’s plan to prevent vote-by-mail disaster,” detailing the efforts of the party, and its well-funded allies, to win the November mail war.
A key part of that plan is legal challenges. For instance, in Georgia, the American Civil Liberties Union accused the state government of wrongfully purging nearly 200,000 voters from the rolls. In this legal battle, the ACLU is joined by the Palast Investigative Fund, one of the myriad “non-partisan” foundations that the Democrats always have at their side.
Yet in the meantime, the ACLU has nothing to say when we discover, for example, that during the 2020 Michigan primaries, the number of ballots counted in 72 percent of Detroit’s absentee ballot precincts didn’t match the number of ballots cast. And the votes counted in 46 percent of all of Detroit’s precincts–both absentee and in-person–didn’t match the number of ballots tracked in the precinct poll books. For perspective on what such abnormalities might portend for the next election, we might observe that Detroit has a population of 670,000. In 2016, Donald Trump won Michigan by a mere 10,704 votes.
Oh, and did we mention that a federal lawsuit filed last year alleged that the city of Detroit had over 2,500 dead people still registered on its voter rolls, and about 4,788 registered Detroit voters were flagged as having potentially registered to vote twice or even three times. But I’m sure none of those dead people will vote by mail, right?
Oh, and while we’re on Michigan, we should also mention that Jocelyn Benson, Michigan’s Democratic Secretary of State who was endorsed by Joe Biden and was a featured speaker at the Democratic National Convention, misprinted the ballots that were created for Michigan voters serving in the military overseas. Guess which candidate was listed incorrectly? You guessed it: Trump! The bad ballots list the Libertarian Party’s vice presidential candidate as President Trump’s running mate instead of Mike Pence. But don’t worry. The spokesperson for Michigan’s Democratic-Biden-endorsed-DNC-speaking Secretary of State has assured us that clerks “will be instructed to duplicate a vote for Trump” for any military voter who mails in one of these misprinted ballots.
📷

In the face of all this potentially embarrassing data, the Democrats have decided that the best defense is a good offense. For instance, Joe Biden stays on the offensive, regularly accusing President Trump of seeking to squelch vote-by-mail; but he never allows that vote-by-mail might need to be reformed. Biden charged on September 7 that Trump “wants to make sure those mail-in ballots don’t get where they’re supposed to get.”
We might wonder: If Biden routinely accuses Trump of cheating, should we be surprised if Democratic activists get the hint and decide that they could, and should, cheat on Biden’s behalf? After all, they might rationalize these efforts as fighting fire with fire.
Cheat-inclined Democrats might draw inspiration from an anonymous Democratic consultant in New Jersey who recently confessed to the New York Post that “fraud is more the rule than the exception.” The consultant explained the various ways in which political operatives can harvest mail-in ballots, change them by inserting different ballots into the envelope, use friendly postal workers to disappear ballots in neighborhoods that lean Republican, and so forth. A few hundred bogus ballots here and there can change an election.
“An election that is swayed by 500 votes, 1,000 votes — it can make a difference,” the Democratic operative said. “It could be enough to flip states.”
Indeed, even Democratic pets can make a difference—and they don’t even have to be alive! Recently in Atlanta, a family got a voter registration application in the mail for their deceased house cat named Cody.
How did that happen, you ask? Well, outside third-party groups can rent mailing lists and randomly send everyone on the list an absentee-ballot application or voter registration application that they downloaded from the state’s election website. Have you ever used your pet’s name to subscribe to something because you didn’t want junk mail in your own name? If so, don’t be surprised if Fluffy or Spot gets a voter registration or absentee ballot application in the mail.
Georgia’s election officials assure us that Cody the cat would not have been able to vote at the polls in the Peach State because the cat doesn’t have a license or state ID. But one wonders if he would be allowed to vote by mail, assuming his registration application cleared. And, of course, not every state requires a photo ID to vote like Georgia does.
Speaking of Georgia, its Republican Secretary of State, Brad Raffensberger, announced on September 8 that his office had identified 150,000 Georgians who had applied for an absentee ballot and then showed up at the polls to vote in person in the June primary; that is, they wished to vote, carelessly or purposefully, for a second time. This in a primary in which a little less than 950,000 people voted; in other words, the attempted (or at least potentially attempted) double voting accounts for around a sixth of total ballots cast. Of these 150,000, Raffensberger added that perhaps 1,000 had actually succeeded in voting twice.
Were these innocent mistakes? Simple confusion? Or guilty action? Whatever the truth about these would-be double voters and actual double voters, we should applaud Georgia authorities for minimizing what could have been a major electoral debacle; thanks to their good work, it was only a minor electoral debacle. In any case, the Georgia ACLU has nothing to say about that.
Voter fraud exists even when you vote in person, but mail-in voting blows the doors wide open in fraud potential. And the Democrats are ready to fight for every ballot—pets and all!
4. Send Democratic lawyers into key districts to fight for every challenged ballot. Use the courts and progressive election officials to keep the count going as long as possible with as little verification as possible.
As we have seen, each mailed-in ballot has the potential to foment a legal fight over its validity. In fact, the Washington Post reported on August 24, that more than 534,000 primary votes in 23 states have been rejected for one reason or another:
Democrats and voting rights groups are now waging court battles to ensure that absentee ballots are not discarded on technicalities, pushing to require that ballots postmarked by Election Day be counted and to make signature-matching laws more voter-friendly.
Meanwhile, in Indiana, a federal judge ruled that Hoosier election officials cannot reject ballots for dissimilar signatures without notifying the voter and giving him or her—aided, of course, by partisan pals—a chance to “cure” the ballot. In fact, 20 states allow a voter to attempt to cure a faulty ballot so that it can be counted. That might be a good idea, but we can see that each “cure” will take a lawyer, not a doctor.
In fact, with such legal fights in mind, the Biden-Harris campaign has already built a SWAT team of 600 lawyers, expecting many more recruits to come.
And just on September 14 came this headline, courtesy of the New York Times: “Biden Creates Legal War Room, Preparing for a Big Fight Over Voting.”
According to the Times, two Democratic legal veterans–Dana Remus, who has served as Biden’s general counsel in the 2020 campaign, and Bob Bauer, a former Obama administration White House counsel–will co-head this legal effort. Others involved include former Obama attorney general Eric Holder and two former solicitors general in Democratic administrations, Donald B. Verrilli and Walter Dellinger. In all, the Times tells us that “hundreds of lawyers will be involved, including a team at the Democratic law firm Perkins Coie, led by Marc Elias.”
The name Marc Elias might ring a bell because, as Breitbart News has reported, he was in the middle of the infamous fake-news Christopher Steele dossier, having retained the firm of Fusion GPS on behalf of the Democratic National Committee. And come to think of it, Bob Bauer, mentioned above, was also a longtime Perkins Coie lawyer, having been there, alongside Elias, during the 2016 presidential campaign and its Steele-y aftermath.
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris herself is keeping up the drumbeat, warning Democrats of the many bad things Republicans are thought to be doing.
“There will be many obstacles that people are intentionally placing in front of Americans’ ability to vote,” Harris said. “We have classic voter suppression. We have a president who is trying to convince the American people not to believe in the integrity of our election system and compromise their belief that their vote might actually count.”
By “voter suppression,” she means any effort to make sure that only eligible living non-pet American citizens are voting in November.
But while we’re on this topic, we should note that the Department of Justice announced this week that it’s investigating reports that nine military mail-in ballots were discarded in Pennsylvania. Seven of the ballots were cast for President Trump; the contents of the other two are unknown. Yes, it’s only nine ballots, but the campaign season is young, and there are lots of places where marked ballots can be discarded.
And the crickets you hear is the sound of Democrats, normally so up-in-arms about vote suppression, now being oh-so-quiet about vote destruction.
Democrats are armed and ready for a vote-by-mail total war. We can expect they will have a ground game in every district. Every disputed ballot will get its own Democratic lawyer. Every critical district and state will see litigation over signature-matches, addresses, postmarks, and anything else that might affect Democratic balloting.
In fact, the Democrats’ legal team has already scored potentially game-changing court victories in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and North Carolina on how long ballots can be counted after Election Day.
In Wisconsin, a federal judge ruled Monday that mail-in ballots can be counted up to six days after Election Day, and a ballot can be counted even if there is no “definitive” sign of a postmark on it.
In Pennsylvania, the state’s Supreme Court ruled last week that mail-in ballots can be received up to three days after Election Day; and, similar to the Wisconsin ruling, these ballots can be counted even if there is no evidence that they were postmarked on time. (The Pennsylvania court handed the Democrats a second victory by keeping the Green Party candidate off the ballot, thereby preventing the Greens from peeling off any progressive voters. We note that the court didn’t grant the GOP a similar favor by kicking the Libertarian Party off the ballot.)
The Pennsylvania Secretary of State also issued an order last week instructing clerks not to conduct signature matches on the mail-in ballots – which means that Pennsylvania essentially nullified signature verification because the state’s election officials won’t be verifying anything.
In Michigan, a judge ruled that postmarked mail-in ballots can be accepted up to 14 days after Election Day, and third parties are allowed to deliver these ballots. This fraud-friendly delivery service is commonly known as “ballot harvest.” It’s all the rage in California and other third world countries.
📷

In North Carolina, a coalition of Democrat-aligned special interest groups got the state to agree to accept mail-in ballots up to nine days after Election Day and to allow voters to “cure” any problems with these ballots. North Carolina election officials also agreed to create vote-by-mail ballot “drop-off” stations, which is essentially an invitation for “ballot harvesting.”
You’ll notice that these are all swing states, and three of them – Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan – were the Rust Belt blue wall states that put Trump over the top in 2016. He won them by 22,748 (WI); 44,292 (PA), and 10,704 (MI) votes. And the Democrats are stopping at nothing to win them back.
Of course, these court victories were concerned with when the mail-in ballot delivery window will close. Let’s not forget the question of when the in-person polls will close. It’s a safe bet that Democratic lawyers will argue—and even sue, as they have in the past—for extra hours in places where their voters might come straggling in late. After all, many protestors and rioters seem to be night people.

2020.09.25 03:11 averagemassbrick CMV: The United States of America is not a functional democracy.

A functional democracy in the true sense of the phrase requires "free and fair elections."
The Republican Party has attempted and achieved in State legislatures to prevent a free and fair vote, prevented votes equal in value between city & country.*1
The Republican Party has sought, and indeed, has effected limitations on the free vote so that millions of Americans either have had their voting franchise removed or that the Republican Party has engaged in dirty tricks that cheat the real or intentioned voting outcome of intending voters.
(1) Gerrymander.
"Republicans in Wisconsin won 60 of the 99 Assembly seats, despite Democrats having a majority of the statewide vote."[30] Legality
The question in the general person's mind must be if legislation exists to create unfair outcomes should that view be negated if it is legal to do so. (Unfair in the sense that 1 vote can have a lesser or greater significance in the election of representatives. Noting fairness & legality are often two clashing issues. For example, forms of apartheid in the USA was legal.)
Gerrymander in the original sense of stacking electorates also has a general imbalance between city votes and rural votes.
The Electoral College is just one example of how an increasingly urban country has inherited the political structures of a rural past. Today, states containing just 17 percent of the American population, a historic low, can theoretically elect a Senate majority, Dr. Lee said. The bias also shapes the House of Representatives. NYT
(2) Minority discrimination.
Felony disenfranchisement. Do the time have completed the crime, does not hold for all felon convictions.
Reduction of voting places for Blacks to prevent voting. Purpose, increase voting wait times, isolation of voting place from transport links, centres of population serve to prevent voting. Validation laws that offer little chance of correction or amendment from voters.
Outright purging of Democrat biased voters. Since 2016, 8% of the total voters of the 2016 election, 17,000,000 have since been disenfranchised
(3) E-Voting vote theft.
I won't go into this except to say, all the data you need is found in @jennycohn1 Voting machines connected to routers, machines that change votes, voting printouts that reflect intermediate or instrumental validity (i.e. a barcode saying you voted for your Rep but has no way of tracing that the vote for your Rep was actually made.) The other thing with the introduction of new machines is that many of them still have routers/modems inside them when the manufacturers said they didn't.
We @fsfp sent evidence to the @EACgov demonstrating that @essvote was falsely claiming its voting machines with wireless modems were federally certified. The EAC agreed & ordered ES&S to write to its customers admitting the systems aren't certified. 1/ https://politi.co/323C5Gb
(4) GOP rogue agents.
The data on Karl Rove is much harder to prove. The infamous interview live where he says 'my scrutineers are telling me there is a late change coming through...' and there wasn't followed by Anonymous stating they broke Rove's link to the tallying server is merely hearsay. But circumstantially correct since Rove's words were proven to be a lie.
Cambridge Analytica 2016 and its new iteration for 2020. Parscale, Nix. That data was harvested illegally from FB to CA has been proven. BTW Nix got suspended today over this
(5) Statistical Data anomalies in barely won GOP seats. Importantly, University Profs statisticians and political experts have found many GOP wins are not validated by statistical measurement. @mikefarb1 demonstrates this, especially in his post-2016 election analysis.
This article offers statistical reasoning why not all statistical analysis is valid. I offer it as an example of the debate over stat analysis, the wider Bayesian problems associated with estimation/weighting. There are, of course, other stat methods using descriptive and validated inferential methods. I bring it up to show openness to challenge and that expert knowledge is required here.
There is an issue of the greatest importance. As it is a Reddit post it cannot hope to be comprehensive, detailed nor fully informed. We know and accept limitations to posting on such a vast topic. I'm hoping to see many posts that have links to demonstrate your view.
*1 Qualification: It has not in the Anglophone world resulted in a 1 person = 1 vote = 1nth of the vote total. Rural electorates often have greater voting significance where 1 vote requires a lesser percentage of votes, to vote in a representative than city or urban electorates. Arguably the GOP have abused this over other Anglophone countries such as the UK, Australia & NZ. (I don't know about Canada.)
